Evaluation Question 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Audience feedback is a really important part of creating my media product because it is good to get the views of what someone who might like the music and they may like the idea of my work that i have done. As the creator of the project, it is important to think of what the consumer may think of it more as it is going to be them purchasing the product.
I asked 2 of my classmates to look at my CDD and MMA.
Jake said that he really liked the idea of my digipack and thought that the conventions I used were really good. He also really liked the idea of the whole black and white aspect of the Digipack and thought that it went really well because of the genre of music. As a consumer Jake said that he will buy this album. When talking about the MMA he really liked it because he liked the idea how i kept the same colours as the CDD and it matched up really well with it.

Stephen also liked my digipack and felt that i did a really good job on it. Stephen pointed out the font in which i used and said that it works really well and doesn't look too over the top and stated it looks quite professional as well. Stephen also said that he would buy this album. Stephen liked my MMA and he also liked the colour scheme used because he stated that it suits the genre of music really well. He also likes the idea of the image of the artist that i have chosen is that it is simple but very effective as well. The images to the right is off my plan for both my CDD and MMA.

This image to the right is off my audience feedback and this was for my animatic in which they both really liked. But my final product did end up looking like the animatic and therefore I needed to make some slight adjustments in which i was able to do quite comfortably.
Below are my finished ancillary tasks and to the left we have my completed CD Digipack (CDD) and to the right hand side we have the completed Music Magazine Advertisement (MMA). Having researched into existing CDD and MMA's, it helped me quite a lot in terms of what I would like mine to include because it gave a really good idea as of what makes a good CDD and MMA therefore the researched I gathered helped me accomplish this.

Construction:Filming
My filming day was a good and bad day. The bad parts were that the clips i got were either too dark or too bright on premiere pro but the good parts were that i was able to improvise and make these clips black and white so it doesn't look like the clips were not the greatest. But on the camera the clips looked really good but when i put them in premiere pro they didn't look that good in the end and i was disappointed. But the good thing is, is that i have been able to complete this challenge.
The images below are the quality of some of the shots.

But with the help of the black and white filter, I was able to overcome this problem and the clips seemed to work really well with the filters on.

Construction:Editing
This image on the right shows how many clips i have got imported into the sequence and wasnt happy with this clip because i don't think it was able to work well with what i wanted in my music video.
This image on the right is one of the shots which i have included and as you can see, the lighting of the one on the left doesn't seem too good and seems quite dark and dull whereas the one on the left seems to be a lot brighter, I was able to tackle this problem by putting a black and white effect onto it in which it made it look a lot better when Jake was walking by the wall.
These 2 images are what i did in order to make this shot a lot better, as you can see the shadow stands out a lot in the first one and doesn't look very professional, but with the help of adding the filter to make it black and white, it makes quite a difference, i also used this image for both my digipack and magazine advertisement.

This image is how i was able to get the black and white effect onto the clips, as you can see i needed to go into the video transition folder then the adjust folder and select the ProcAmp in which i had to drag onto the clip. When i go into the video settings, the images above show the menu which comes up and how i was able to change it.

This small image is me selecting the razor tool in order to cut one clip and use it as another.

Planning: Film Schedule
This is my filming schedule and I feel that it would be beneficial to me because it will help me stay on track and be organised in terms of what props and characters are involved in each shot.
All of my filming is going to be outside and I need the weather to be quite good. I also need to film the shots in the location order because I don't want to waste any time and the time I am filming at, I need as much natural light as I can get.

Planning:Audience Feedback
Once I completed my animatic, I then shown it to people that would be interested in this type of music, I then asked them for their feedback upon my animatic and asked what was good and bad.The target audience really liked my animatic because it s a mixture of both performance and narrative meaning which they quite like the aspect off. They really liked the shots that I used as well because they portray the meaning off the song which they thought was good. When it comes to the filming process, I need to make sure that the actors are good in order to make the story seem realistic, so when it comes to me trying to find actors, I will have multiple options in order to try and find the ones that I need.
The actors thought that the shots I was using were good but they said the length of them were not the best because some were too quick for that specific scene and some of them were dragged out a bit as well. Another factor they liked was that on my animatic, I also explained what was going on in that scene as well so if they got confused by the images, I also stated what was going to be happening in that specific shot as well. They also thought that the story aspect is good as well and is quite clear as it relates to the song lyrics quite well which is very important to when it comes to the finished product. They also stated that I would need a lot of actors when it comes to me filming so I might have to alter it a bit in order to make sure that I have actors that I want and that are good.
By getting the feedback, I will be able to take what my audience said into consideration in order to try and make it more appealing to the actual audience when it comes to the finished product. By asking multiple people, they agree with what the 2 members said so I need to make sure that this is going to be at a very high standard and that my production is going to be successful.

Planning: Camera Equipment
When it comes to me doing my filming, I need to make sure that I have a good enough camera so the quality is good and looks professional. I think I need to have more practice with the cameras so I know what one to use for definite. I will need to make sure that I am going to be comfortable with the camera that I am willing to use when it comes to the filming stage so that I won't be wasting time. There is a variety of different cameras that I am able to use as well within school as well as some of my family members which have good quality cameras so I will take their cameras into consideration when it comes to me selecting one. I will be talking about 3 different potential cameras that I am thinking of using.
Camera 1 - Canon EOS 1100D

The first camera that I am able to use is this Canon EOS 1100D. The good features of this camera is that I will be able to film at high frames per second as well as HD as well meaning that when I go to record some footage, the quality is going to be really good. When I was testing the camera out in lesson, I was able to get a good idea of how it works meaning that when it comes to the filming process, I will be able to use the camera without any problems occurring because of my experience when using it, I also went onto Youtube and got a video of the camera quality. The video belo
w is a good test because it shows the real quality of the camera. These cameras are also very expensive meaning that since I am able to use them for free, it would be a waste for me not to use them.
Camera 2 - Nikon D3200
My second choice of camera would be the Nikon D3200, I will take this camera into consideration because I have 2 members of my family which own this camera therefore I have a lot of knowledge on how to use it because of my practising with it. This camera is very good and it is able to record in full HD (1080p). This is what is most important because I will want to make sure that the quality of my music video is to a very high standard so it is important that I am able to use a high quality camera as well as know how to use it as well. Just like the previous camera, I have also found a test video as well as an image of the camera.Camera 3 - Canon Legria
The 3rd camera was the Canon Legria, I have used this camera before and it was ok to use but I dont think I will use it for my music video because the quality isn't the greatest and for a music video, I would like to try and make it as professional as I can meaning that this camera will not be the best camera to use because of this reason. This camera is more of a type of camera that will get used on family holidays and events and not for professional events such as music videos, weddings etc. The camera also doesn't work well in the light and therefore causes the footage to be grainy.
To conclude, I think I would benefit from using the Nikon D3200 DSLR camera as I know how to use it meaning I will be comfortable when using to film my music video.

Planning: Shot List
A shot list is important when it comes to the planning stage. By creating this shot list, I will be able to see what shots I need to film and what actors are going to be involved at what locations. I will also be give a copy of my shot list to the actors so they get a brief idea of what is going to be involved within that shot. I have included the shot number, actors involved, shot type, location, description and the time of the song.
I also decided to create a lyrics column in which for my and my actor will be able to refer to what lyrics are going to be synced to what shot.
Type of shot: The type of shot is going to be important for me because I will be able to notice straight away the type of shot that I want to use via the shot type column.

Planning: Casting
Casting in my opinion is the biggest aspect because I need to select actors that like to be infront of the camera and that will do a good job and not laugh or get shy therefore I have selected some people from my class to fulfill this role which I will be explaining both of their strengths and weaknesses. I also want to make sure that the people I choose to cast dont feel like they have to be in it, this is because they may not end up doing a good job and I would need to get a different actor and do it all over again which I dont want to be doing as it is a lot of time being wasted.
Potential Character 1 - Stephen Olatunbosun
This is Stephen, I would say he would be my main singer because as by the picture, he likes being in front of the camera. I have also spoke to Stephen and he said he would like to be the main singer in my music video meaning that I dont have to worry a lot about the main person because I have a strong candidate here. The only problem with Stephen is that he laughs quite a lot in front of the camera, this isnt because he is nervous, it is just how he is. Stephen is quite flexible as well so I will be able to base my filming around his schedule quite easily.
Potential Character 2 - Thomas Kelly
This is Thomas, I would say he is my 2nd strongest actor because he is not very camera shy but he is not a huge fan of acting. I have spoke to Thomas and he said he would like to feature in my music video but I am unsure of what role he will play when it comes to the actual filming of it.Thomas would be good for either of the roles but I am still unsure of what his best one would be. A weakness for him would be that he isn't
the strongest actor.
Potential Character 3 - Jake Liggins
This is Jake Liggins, he would be my 3rd strongest candidate because he is ok infront of the camera and ok at acting but I think Thomas and Stephen are more suitable for the roles it comes down to when it comes to me choosing them. Jake would be more suited to playing the instruments because he knows how to play the drums and guitar meaning it would be bad for me not to use him in my music video.
Potential Character 4 -Lewis Swannell
My 4th potential actor would be Lewis, he is not so confident in front of the camera but he said he wouldnt mind doing small sections in my video which is good of him. Lewis would be in front of the camera for some clips but he would like to do scenes in which he doesnt have to face the camera because he doesnt like the feel of it.

Planning: Costume
It is very important that I take the costumes quite seriously because I want to be giving the audience a good impression of the story that is going on and what the characters are like so the audience get a good knowledge of whats going on in the music video. The genre of my chosen song is Indie Rock and therefore the costumes I have chosen relate well and Imagine Dragons tend to wear dark clothing therefore I have gone with the dark clothing. The target audience will also think that the costume choice is good because they will be able to see that I have taken the dark clothing into consideration, the target audience also wear similar clothes to what I have chosen to wear as well which is also another good reason for my choice of clothing for all of the actors. The choice of costume suit the actors and represents them in a particular way meaning that the audience will be able to get an impression of the roles of the characters that they are playing.
Costume 1 - Main Singer
The first costume I will have for my actor is going to be a plain smart black shirt, this is because I want him to look smart so the audience get a good impression of main actor. I will also make sure that the actor will be wearing black jeans and a watch in order to make him look good for his role, the costume is not going to cost a lot of money as well which is a good thing because I wont be hesitating to buy them a lot and he has some of the clothing items as well which is a huge advantage to me.
Below are the clothing items that I have found and are what I would like the main singer to wear. The total cost of these items would be no more than £35 because he has some of the items of clothing anyway which is good.

Costume 2 - Friendly Actor
For this actor, I would like him to be dressed casual so the audience see him as a normal person. This is the actor that the main singer doesnt know but then they have a good friendship meaning that the audience will like this character, the clothing items that i have selected for this actor will not cost a lot of money and the actor owns some of these clothes just like the first costume making it an advantage to me because I dont have to spend a lot of money on clothes.
Costume 3 - Bully(s)
The 3rd costume is going to be the Bully(s). I will have them dressed in a negative way to show the audience what they are going to be like so that they will be able to make out that he is a bad guy, the clothes that I will have him wear will not be a lot of money and just like the other 2 costumes, I and some of the actors own the clothes as well making it good for me because I will not be spending a lot of money on clothes that I will not wear. The actor will wear a black hoody, black jeans and a snood in order to help cover up his identity.

Planning: Props
When it comes to creating my music video, I will be taking props into consideration because they show the audience what the is like in terms of what instrument they play for example of if an actor is holding a gun, the audience will get the impression of the actor bing troublesome. They also have a big part in telling the audience a story between the actors in the music video. In my music video, I am not sure if I am going to be having multiple props, I may only have 2 or 3 because I need to take these factors into consideration:
Cost- When choosing my props, I need to make sure that I am able to buy them because I don't want to spend too much on my props because I have a budget and will be needing to take into consideration the cost of the costume for each of the characters as well. But the props I am thinking about are very low cost and I will be able to get a hold of some.
Relation to song- I need to make sure then when selecting my props, that they suit the song, this is because if the story is about falling in love, I don't want to have props that are going to show the audience as the characters being violent because the video will not look professional and the audience will get confused as of what they are meant to be doing.
Easy to move - When selecting the props that I am going to be using, I need to make sure that I am able to move them easily. If the props are too big and I need to film in an enclosed space, it will be difficult for me to move them so I will need to think about the props that I am going to be selecting. Most of my props are going to be easy to transfer because they are not going to be the biggest.
Prop 1 - Picture of Family member
Since my song is about demons, I will be using an image of a family member for the actor to use because the family member in the photo is going to be of the person that they miss and they don't see anymore therefore a good reference to the song because their demons are that they don't see that family member anymore. This prop will be easy to get because the actor has multiple images of them so will be easy to use. The image is going to cost nothing, it relates to the song well and is easy to move around if I need to change the location as well. It will also be easy to get more than one shot because of how easy the prop is to move around.

Prop 2 - Actors Phone
The actor will need to use his phone because in my song, the actor will be texting someone thanking them for helping the actor solve their problems, the actor is fine with using his phone for the actual shooting of the music video meaning that I will not need to buy a separate one, The phone used is going to be a Samsung Galaxy S3, this prop is going to be good because near the end of the song, the actor is going to be overcoming their demons meaning that they will be able to text them frequently and if the actor needs help overcoming these in the future, the person the actor is texting will be there to help him. I will also need the other actors phone which I am unsure who it is going to be so that they are able to reply to the main actor.
Prop 3 - Baseball Bat
The third prop that I will be using is going to be a baseball bat, this is because one of the flashbacks that is going to occur is going to include the main actor getting beat up by some people, I may have to purchase a baseball bat from a sports shop because I don't know anyone that may have one, they shouldn't be to expensive. This relates to the song because another flashback is the going to be the demons of the actor getting beaten up badly because the images are still in his head from when he got badly hurt that day. The image to the right is a baseball bat that I found which is only going to cost me £8.50 so I will have no problems when it comes to buying it.
Cost- When choosing my props, I need to make sure that I am able to buy them because I don't want to spend too much on my props because I have a budget and will be needing to take into consideration the cost of the costume for each of the characters as well. Research and Planning Self-Assessment
- Research into existing music videos - I would give my research into existing music videos a minimal mark because I have only done the 1 video. But the one that I have completed I would give myself a mark of good because I have included a good amount of information and backed it up via the use of screenshots and gifs. In order to increase my mark and get all 3 of them to good/detailed simply by including more detail.
- Research into a potential target audience - For my research into potential target audience, I would give myself a level 3, this is because I have included a lot of detail in my post and even provided a screenshot of my mind map which I used to take notes on. To improve and get to a level 4 mark, I may need to include more screenshots into my post and write about them.
- Work on storyboarding - My work for my storyboard and animatic is incomplete, this is because when I was editing both of them, I kept on having issues and have only just managed to export them both. I will begin writing about both of them as soon as possible and will complete this to a high standard.
- Time management - I would say my time management has been good but I can do a lot better with it because I need to be posting more each week instead of one thing each week, this is so that I am able to get more work done so the work load isn't as much.
- Use of digital technology or ICT - My ICT and digital technology I would say is good, this is because when I was in Premier Pro, I was having problems with the export and when doing the green screen lip syncing I was also having a few problems. But I was able to sort out these problems quite easily and I was able to get back to doing my work. But I think I need more practice with the cameras when it comes to doing filming.
- Communication skills - I would say that my communication skills are good because I am able to write well in my work that I have done. An example would be that in the post about the target audience, I was able to complete my work to a good standard and with some detail as well. To improve I will need to proof read my work a lot more just to double check it reads well.
- Level of care taken in the presentation of work - I would say my presentation of my work is good but needs tidying up a little bit, this is because on 1 of my posts, I have included a lot of screenshots and they are just around the page and it doesn't look presentable at all. But for my other posts I would say that it is good. To improve I need to go back to all of my posts and make sure that if someone else was to read my work, would they be happy with the way its presented.

Green Screen Lip Sync Test
The video shown is a member of our class (Ellie) lip syncing to Adele's Rolling in the deep, in the video Adele can be seen but this is only a test because I was seeing how well the lip syncing went with the song. But after i looked back at it, the creases in the green screen can be seen. This was only a test but if I choose to use a green screen in my music video, I will make sure that I iron it in order for the screen to look flat and when it comes to using it, it will not be shown and will look really good. I will not also use a green screen when someone is already on the screen as well because it will just not look good. This was just a test to see how well I can get the lip syncing working well.
The 3 images below is the process of what I did in order to get the green screen footage working over the original footage so that it looks like it is in the same video. First I had to move the footage above the original so that when I take the green screen out, it will look like Ellie is actually in the video, I had to click on the footage of Ellie then effects which i then had to click on keying then eight point garbage matte. Once I did that I was able to go into the effect controls tab and then select the matte and then i was able to crop out parts of the green screen but for me to take the green screen out, I had to go onto the ultra key which is located in the effects. When I went into the effects control I was able to click on the little pipette which allowed me to select the green screen and so I was able to remove it. Once I did that I was able to try and make it so that Ellie's lip syncing went with the song.

Graphic Match Test
I intend on using a graphic match in my music video multiple times because I am going to be using it as as flashback effect which is going to show the demons of the main actor, the video above is the test that I did, when it comes to the actual filming, I will be using the same person/object, but on this I used different objects that looked similar, a small pot and a camera lens, this was just to see how it would look. I also saw someone else in my group use graphic matching on the same person in different locations which is what I intend on doing, I think that when I do it, the outcome will be really good and I will be able to make sure that I get it to link up to the song well.

Planning:Animatic And StoryBoard For Demons
The 2 videos that are linked above are of my storyboard and my animatic which I created, this is to help plan for my music video and a rough estimate of what it is going to look like once the finished production is complete. The blue paper in the storyboard video is the lyric paper which I wrote the entire lyrics on. The white panels are what I drew the pictures on and matched them up to the lyric paper, after each storyboard panel I drew, I gave a brief description of what is going to happen in that shot just for my reference. Once i finished both of these, I imported the video of the storyboard into premiere pro just so that I can remove the background noise. I then imported all of my panels into premiere pro which I tried to match up each of the panels to the song and tried my hardest to get the panels to cut to the beat just to get a rough estimate of how my video is going to look once I have completed it. I used 30 storyboard panels and it was just the rigth amount. This was good practice when it came to me editing this because I will have a much better knowledge when it comes to editing the real product, it was good that I was able to get my song so that it cuts to the beat so it looks better to watch.
The images below is the construction phase of my animatic, the image on the left is the completed timeline. The pink frames on the time line is the images of my storyboard and I extended some of the images so the shots last longer than some, the green bar is the audio clip and as you can see it matches the clips really well. The image on the right is me editing one particular panel before I dragged it down into the timeline. The 2nd image on the right is where I imported the clips into and the image on the left is me highlighting all of the panels that I am going to be including into my animatic.
